MARINE SHIELD UV SAIL FLEX
MAKING YOUR SAILS/UV BANDING STRIP LAST LONGER!
Marine Shield (MS) UV Sail Flex has been tested and proven in the field since before 2011, from the smallest of sails, to the largest superyacht sails in the world, it has many properties that can help sails last longer, and maintain a better condition. This will help save valuable time and money on maintenance and repair.
BENEFITS OF USING MS UV SAIL FLEX?
- Contains UV inhibitors/light scatterers and absorbers
Specially designed for New Zealand's harsh maritime climate, to absorb, reflect and scatter UV rays, reducing UV penetration by up to 99%, when using the 3-coat colour system.
- No stitching required!
Stopping the need for stitching holes in membrane sails.
- Light-weight
Compared to traditional sewn on UV strips.
- Encapsulation/sealing of fibres/stitching
Totally sealing the sail cloth, which is important as this will extend the life of the stitching.
- Excellent colour stability
Colours last longer, looking crisper and sharper.
- Mould/algae/fungi resistance, including 'red rain' stain
Just a simple, soapy wash, and it all comes off!
- Hydrophobic
Repels water, further reducing weight.
- Provides an excellent slip-coat
Allowing roller furlers to roll up more tightly.
- High flexibility/good elasticity
Without distorting the sail, and passing flutter testing with ease.
- Outstanding scratch/chafing resistance
Providing a hard, but flexible surface to protect the underlying sail cloth.
- High tolerance to oil stains/turpentine/paint thinners/diesel/petrol/carbon soot fallout
For those unfortunate spillages that we all know can happen. Just a soapy wash and it all comes off!
- Excellent adhesion capabilities
Withstanding up to 2,500 psi water blasting adhesion tests.
- Cost effective and easy to apply
Following the Marine Shield UV Sail Flex application instructions.
- Great shelf life
Unopened Part A lasts 2+ years, unopened Part B lasts up to 5 years (from date of manufacture)
3 APPLICATION PURPOSES IN 1 KIT!
For branding yacht sails - 1 coat required
(depending upon colour)
For UV protection for Code 0 sails - 2 coats required
For the ultimate UV protection - up to 99% - 3 coats required
Please Note:
UV protection increases with the number of coats applied (maximum 3 coats, to achieve the ultimate combination of flexibility and UV protection).
Marine Shield UV Sail Flex can be used as a 1 coat, 2 coat, or 3 coat system. As indicated above, using 1 coat acts as branding for yacht sails, 2 coats provides effective UV protection for Code 0 sails (as they are not left exposed to the elements for long periods of time). 3 coats provides the ultimate UV protection for those sails that are exposed 365 days per year e.g. from the smallest of yachts, to world cruising superyachts.
